Spinach Dip Festive Tree
This is such a fun recipe! The bones of it is really the spinach dip, but dressing it up our skinny face dough fashioning a Christmas tree is such an adorable way to impress your family and friends.
You can make this dip with either fresh (cooked/wilted) or frozen, but the fresh will always be nicer. Make sure you squeeze all the water out of the spinach for a better consistency
If you choose to take this back to the bare bones recipe, just add the dip ingredients to a oven safe baking dish, sprinkle the reserved mozza on top and bake it for the recommended time.

Ingredients
For the Dough
- 1 to 1 1/4 cup mozzarella, shredded
- 1 cup almond flour
- 3/4 tsp cream of tartar
- 3/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp xanthan gum
- 2 eggs
For the Spinach Dip
- 12 oz spinach, pan wilted or 10 oz frozen
- 1 cup cream cheese
- 3/4 cup sour cream
- 1 1/2 cups cheese - shredded. We used Old
- 1 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 tsp parsley
- 1 tsp chives
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp sea or pink Himalayan salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp Chili powder
- 2 tsp garlic powder or 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tbsp onion powder or flakes
- 1/2 by tsp Fish sauce
- 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard
- Extra/optional ingredients
- 1/2 cup bacon cooked and crumbled
- 1/4 cup sun dried tomatoes, diced
- 1/2 cup mushrooms, diced and cooked
Directions
For the Dough
Preheat oven to 350 and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, mix mozzarella with dry ingredients
When the cheese is fully coated place mixture in the microwave and microwave on medium-high heat for 1 minute.Stir then microwave on another 30 seconds, or until cheese has melted.
Stir in the eggs and knead with your hands until a dough forms. If the dough starts to harden, microwave for 10-15 seconds to soften it.
Lay out two large piece of parchment paper and roll your dough between them. You are trying to get your dough shaped into a square/rectangular shape, about 1/4″ or 1/3″ thick. ,
Cut your dough into into a Christmas tree/triangle by cutting off the top corners of the left and right side. Reserve the 2 cut off pieces
Transfer your parchment with the tree to a large sheet tray.
For the Spinach Filling
Drain spinach well, the more water you can get out the beer you dip will be
Rough chop the spinach.
Combine spinach and cream cheese in a large mixing bowl
Add remaining ingredients, reserving 1/2 the cheese.
Mix well to fully incorporate
Putting it all together
Spread spinach mix on bottom layer. Sprinkle with reserved cheese then use the two reserved pieces of dough and place on top of the tree. Using a pizza cutter or knife, cut 1/2 inch thick strips that will serve as branches, on either side of tree, leaving a 1-1 1/2″ strip uncut down the center. Gently lift and twist each branch.
In a small bowl, mix together butter and garlic powder. Brush all over tree and star and bake until golden, 30 minutes.
Let cool slightly (cheese will be molten) and serve
